Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

If you are looking to start Fantasy, then probably Harry Potter series is the best go to fantasy read for all of you. The series centers around a wizard by the name Harry Potter who is an extremely popular figure in the wizarding world but is initially  unaware about the heritage he holds, since he is raised in the house of muggles(non magic people) by his Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon ,along with their overly spoiled son Dudley Dursley. Dursleys treats harry with disgust and negligence and their son always try to belittle Harry's existence by bullying him.

Harry did'nt knew about his contrasting history which will later become his present ,but his Aunt and Uncle are very much aware about it and they are willing to go to every possible lengths to keep harry away from his reality.One sudden day owls start flying around at the daytime in Surrey ,England which is highly unusual and people wearing robes and hats start paying visit to the county , Before dursleys can recover from this enigma ,a letter comes to their home at Number 4 Private Drive for Harry Potter and this confirms the hunch of Harry's not so fostering family.

Dursleys try keeping letters away from harry by using undue force but the letters won't give up .In the pursuit of running away from the letters dursleys shift to a broken Hut in the middle of the ocean.On harry's birthday ,a giant man by the name Rubeus Hagrid visits their hut to make Harry a part of the world which is awaiting his arrival for ten years. Hagrid discloses the big secret to harry about his existence as a wizard and how his parents died saving him from the "you know who"(Voldemort).

Confused Harry ,who is not in a position to deny his heritage goes along with Hagrid to explore a parallel world filled with magic .Hagrid helps harry to buy the essentials for his new home by the name of Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry.Harry then tries to find platform-9 3/4 to get on board for Hogwarts and befriends Ronald Weasley in the due course , who belongs to a family of wizards and had a rough encounter with the bossy witch Hermoine Granger ,who comes from a family of muggles.

All the students are amazed when they reached Hogwarts and from there the students are sorted into their houses(griffindor,ravenclaw,hufflepuff and slytherin) by the sorting hat. Harry ,Ron and Hermoine selected for griffindor .From there all three embarked upon their magical journey under the leadership of Professor Mcgonagall and under the warm protection of greatest wizard of all time, Headmaster Albus Dumbledore. At first harry finds it difficult to cope with a totally different atmosphere of magic but after a while he grows familiar with roaming ghosts and moving portraits of people. First years have to study several subjects such as herbology ,alchemy ,potions , charms but harry shows his knack for flying broomsticks which constitutes a major part of the wizard's game Quidditch. The trio gets bewildered by the fact that an attempt has been made to rob the gringotts vault number 713 ,so they try to tail the mystery through newspapers,textbooks and by taking unfair advantage of hagrid's innocence. As harry gathers knowledge about the thing stored in the vault ,the face off between harry and his new found nemesis becomes inevitable.

The novel tries to present an honest picture of 11 year old gryffindorians ,who are loyal to their friends and exceptionally courageous in adverse situations. Overall this book is a great start if you want to read the Harry potter series.
